The Associate Investment Officers (IOs) support various groups and professionals with expertise in the regions and sectors in which the IFC operates. The project teams consist of investment staff, lawyers, environmental and social experts, and economists, as well as technical experts. IOs work directly with their clients, partner investors and international and local sponsors. The IFC's Latin America and Caribbean Infrastructure Department (LAC) hires an Associate Investment Officer to work to help identify business opportunities; support the formation and implementation of financial services; and actively manage portfolio funds in key infrastructure sectors (transport, energy, water, waste and municipal infrastructure). New appointments should be made to participate in infrastructure projects throughout the LAC region, but with a clear focus on the Andes region. The overall aim of the project manager is to maximize the potential impact of IFC interventions.
A significant amount of travel will be required to meet the objectives of the assignment. The nominee will be based in Bogota, Colombia.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate will support team teams in the transport, water, waste and municipal teams in product and location planning, managing strategic partnerships, leading business development activities, and supporting the implementation and hiring of infrastructure debt and investment projects in the Andes region; opportunities can be provided to lead and / or fund infrastructure projects in the broader Latin American region and the Caribbean Region.
Certain obligations include, but are not limited to:
• Guide / direct mapping and business opportunities exploration in infrastructure; conducting market research and conducting honest checks.
• Produce country and sector analysis, marketing materials and pitch books.
• Support the construction of a strong pipeline for quality investment opportunities by anticipating market trends and hiring sector / country knowledge.
• Draft design and submission notes for discussion and management of relevant business opportunities.
• Support trading groups during investment with due diligence. Rate, edit, negotiate, and close new transactions from the authorization section.
• Collaborate closely with social, environmental, legal and technical experts to maximize profits for our clients' businesses, find practical solutions to specific sector problems, and achieve sustainable development impacts.
• Support the negotiation / documentation sections; use strong negotiation skills to build solutions and overcome direct and complex transaction tendencies.
• Completely manage and / or support portfolio investment, including restructuring, restructuring, waiver processing, payment, etc.
• Support customer management groups, international and regional private businesses, international and international partners and government officials to further develop the sector and develop specific investment opportunities.
How to Choose
• MBA or equivalent qualifications.
• Strong financial and investment technology skills with at least 5 years of financial experience (financial institution, investment banks, private fund, consultation); and relevant information on infrastructure investment planning. Practical experience of transport, electricity, water, waste or municipal projects is highly desirable.
• Track record of infrastructure projects in the LAC (strongly recommended), including transaction financing transactions; corporate finance and / or financial transactions. Appropriate experience in Colombia or Peru is also interesting.
• Real interest and knowledge of relevant infrastructure and regional sector trends.
• The “do-it-yourself” position and the ability to point out the box and push the envelope.
• The ability to communicate directly and independently with potential customers, financial and technical partners and government officials.
• Excellent speaking and writing skills in English and Spanish.
• Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
