Eligibility Criteria Fellowship Program for Google Africa PhD.
Students and professionals are welcome to apply for the PhD Fellowship Program. For current PhD students
Applicants must enroll in a full-time PhD program at a university in Africa. Applicants who are currently in their first year of a part-time PhD program and are moving to full-time positions are also welcome to apply.
Students must be early PhD students, meaning they must not be more than 1 year of their PhD. Applicants for the 2022 Fellowship may have started their program on or after January 1, 2022.
Students must be enrolled in the PhD program for the duration of the fellowship or be denied an award.
Applicants must have a PhD in computer science or related fields.
Google employees and family members of Google employees are not eligible.
Students who are already receiving another corporate fellowship are not eligible.

Advertising for current undergraduate / master's students and professionals
Fellowship grants to this category of applicants are subject to their enrollment in a full-time PhD program at an African university within the calendar year of the award.
Student applicants must be enrolled in the African University as full-time undergraduate or master's students. Professionals must be employed / affiliated with an organization registered in Africa.
The Google Fellowship Award winner will have to decide whether to enroll in a full-time PhD program in computer science or related fields at an African university within the calendar year 2022, or the award will be forfeited.
Approval for a Google Fellowship does not mean admission to a university's PhD program. The recipient of the award must also complete the process of admission for PhD in the relevant institute / university where he / she wants to apply for PhD.
The Google Fellowship grant will be subject to the rules and guidelines applicable to the institute / university where one registers for the award-winning PhD program.
