Sources exclusively told Pro Pakistani that the SECP has issued a certificate of registration to Google under Section 435 of the Companies Act, 2017.

According to documents available with ProPakistani, Google Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. has been registered under the Companies Act 2017 to establish a Liaison Office in Pakistan.
According to sources, Google will start its operations in Pakistan very soon after registration in SECP. A Google delegation will visit Pakistan next week to meet Pakistani officials and discuss its operations in Pakistan.
Sources say that the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) was in touch with international companies and was trying hard to bring them to Pakistan, but the companies were reluctant due to political instability.
However, there has been a development in this regard, in which first Google and then Tik Tok have agreed to set up offices in Pakistan, while talks between the ministry and Facebook are ongoing.
IT Ministry officials are hopeful that Google will set up its office in Pakistan in the next few days. According to MoITT officials, Google has launched several initiatives in Pakistan in recent years.
In September, Google launched career certifications to offer flexible learning paths to all Pakistanis. In June 2022, Google launched a suicide hotline in Pakistan to address suicide incidents and mental health issues.
The MOITT official said that the registration of Google as a company in Pakistan is a good sign. Google is investing $3.5 million in the Google Certification program and the registration with the SECP means the company is looking to invest more.

Information Technology and Telecommunication Minister Syed Aminul Haque told Geo News that after the registration of the American multinational technology company, other social media platforms will also set up offices in Pakistan.
"TikTok will soon set up its office in Pakistan. Companies are hesitant due to lack of trust and conflicting policies," he said, adding that his ministry would extend full support to foreign companies.
The government of Pakistan has made registration mandatory for companies under social media laws and in this context Google has registered itself as a company.
If Google's server is built in Pakistan, the data will be safe. Even now the data of all companies including social media is protected outside Pakistan.
Earlier today, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited Metaz - Facebook's parent company - Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore.
During his visit, Bilawal highlighted the achievements and great potential of Pakistan's IT sector. He expressed a strong desire to increase cooperation between the social media company and Pakistan.
